Professional nails?

Okay.,

im getting my nails done tommrow..

andd thiss is my 1stt timee.

doo you theyy feel weirdd at firstt

someone told me they get in your way.. do they?

how long do they stay on..?Professional nails?
They take some time getting used to and if they are much longer than your real nails they do tend to get in the way till you are used to having them. They also really hurt when you hit one wrong or snap one off. They stay on quite awhile and do damage your real nails. Always remove them by soaking them in acetone or nail remover, never peel them off.Professional nails?
they take time to get used to.

I haaave some on right now,

and, haha i dont remeber the last time i didnt have them on.

I %26lt;3 THEM!

they will stay on for a month,

but they start growing out after a couple weeks,

then you go in and get whats called a fill.

they get in your way sometimes, but everything gets in the way sometime!

%26amp; at first they kinda hurt, like the first day, but no worries,

its just the pressure on your nails:).
They do feel weird at first they hurt a little at frst because they put pressure on your nails but after that they are fine. They do get in your way but you get used to them super quick. They stay on for about 3+ weeks unless you are really rough with them then 2-3 weeks. They are super fun to have on and they look so great.
I have worn them for years and you get use to them really quickly I would not recommend leaving them on for too long at a time because they are really hard on your nails, they stay on until you have them removed with the exception of ones that chip and break, ( getting them removed hurts) feels like someone is ripping your nails off try to have them soaked off!
i've kept my nails done for the past 3 yrs cause it looks professional for my job...if they get too long there annoying...other than that i love em!

i get mine filled in almost evry other week(every 2 weeks) but sometimes i can go 3 weeks without a fill in..but my manicurist gets mad..lol
My acrylics lasts about 2-21/2 weeks then time for fill-in..It all depends on how thick they lay the acrylic.....sometimes it may not last 2 weeks...Different nail techs do nails differently. If you get long and you're not used to having long nails yes they will feel funny..it may be harder to type....put on jewelry..etc.but u would get used to it..I suggest getting them short for your first time...My nails now are about an inch long and im still adjusting to them...got them last week.
As long as they are not too long, they're not a problem. They stay on anywhere from 2 to 4 weeks depending on how fast your nails grow and how careful you are with them. They only get in the way until you are used to having them.
Mine stayed on for a couple weeks, and there not that bad. just make them cut them short. Like so you can barely see them over your fingers. the person will say, no to shory, but tell them to cut them or you will leave withou paying. lol.
Yes, at first you may feel weird but then it's OK.However you should know that them could cause some damage to your real nails.
there hella annoying. you ca't write/text/button your own pants.

I need a DETAiLED list of steps to Applying Acrylic Nails. I Need An Answer From A True Professional!?

I have all of tha supplies.

but when im finished applying them, tha surface is not smooth like at tha salon. its actually rough.im thinking it might be a problem with my brush. i had problems wit it my first time because i didnt know it wasnt supposed to be rinsed in water. then everytime i take out tha brush to use it again it always has hardened-on acrylic on it and tha brush itself is hard. so along with DETAiLED steps on how to correctly do this, and what im doing wrong, i woould like to also know what is a good brush to use to apply tha acrylic (preferably not expensive) can i possibly use a regular cosmetic brush, and how do i store tha nail brush so there wont be any hard acrylic leftover on it?I need a DETAiLED list of steps to Applying Acrylic Nails. If you want DETAILED steps, then I suggest you sign up for a nail technician training program, and learn how to do them the right way. You'll get all the details you ever wanted, and then some. Its not as easy as it looks, is it?

OK FINE. Suit yourself...

My son does mine for me.
My nails are blood red. I have acrylics. My boyfriend has his nails done. I don't think it's gay or anything. It is very relaxing, his hands look nice, and I know for a fact that he's NOT gay or anything. The first thing people look at are face, teeth, hands, and clothing. So...

  • How do professionals take off acrlyic nails?

I just got mine done last week and i'm just wondering how the nail salon people take them off.How do professionals take off acrlyic nails?
They make you soak your fingernails in acetone then they file them and they soak them and they pop them off. You could do it at home too.

Can you go to a professional pedicure place if your have jacked up feet? (fungus, atletes foot, yellow nails)?

Yes you can, but as a consideration to the pedicurist, inform them of your condition before removing your footware. Some, if surprized with it, may refuse to perform their services. Others may have treatments that work better than standard OTC medications.

I hope this helps. Good luck. Can you go to a professional pedicure place if your have jacked up feet? (fungus, atletes foot, yellow nails)?
oh don't do that to the poor nail technician

do it yourself at home (not that hard) or wait until your feet healCan you go to a professional pedicure place if your have jacked up feet? (fungus, atletes foot, yellow nails)?
yellow nails yes. fungus and athletes foot no.

Professional nails or Self press on nails?

I've been thinking about getting acrylic nails done at a salon for awhile but my mom has been saying that acrylic nails damage your real ones and they're real expensive. I asked her about buying the cheap self press on nails you can buy at Walmart and she said that they weren't as damaging. But the thing is, the self press on ones only last less than a week! At least that's what I heard... I've been wanting to try out fake nails just to see what they're like since painting my nails just doesn't last long. Which kind do YOU think I should try?Professional nails or Self press on nails?
Quit trying to be so damn girly and just cut your nails like regular people do.Professional nails or Self press on nails?
    professional
the professional ones hurt like hell when you get them on, and yess they do damage your nails ALOT.

but the upside is they look alot better than the press on ones.

oh and it you do get professional, get the solar ones.

What is a nice professional Length for nails?

The most common, most professional length is to the end of the finger and square.. square and short but not too short is IN. Long and too short boyish nails are out. What is a nice professional Length for nails?
short and trimmed!!What is a nice professional Length for nails?
i would say 1/2 an inch, french manicure
I say 1/4 inch, which is Navy regulation standards for women and actually i think it looks good too
I'd say to then end of your fingertip or just a touch longer and squared off. Also avoid bright polish colors. Neutral colors will look ok but the ';in'; thing is dark polish.
    1/2 inch
Just a little long than your finger tips.

    Professional nails..?

i got my nails professionally done and i want them off.. is there something i can soak them in to get them soft? i really dont want to go to the salon again and pay to get them off. i heard nail polish remover?Professional nails..?
If you paid to have your nails professionally applied, I'd put in the extra to have them professionally removed. The salon will know the product line that they used, so they will know the best kind of products for the easiest removal. The last thing you want to do is to put more pressure on your nail beds or damage your natural nails by prying off or ripping off the nails.Professional nails..?
acetone is what they use at the salon, nail polish remover will work, but it takes forever. use straight acetone in a glass bowl, soak your nails in it for a half hour, rub the disolved product off repeat.
Yea you can use acetone nail polish remover. Just soak them in that for a while and they will be easier to get off. But i really do recomend going to a salon to get them off, because they will do a better job and give you a manicure after they are off wich you will definately need!
if they are fake use that stuff in the nail place at walmart

if they are just polish use remover
non actone nail polish works but i dont like it because u have to use like two bottles and it smells bad and kinda gives ur mouth a bad taste. you might be able to buy stuff at walmart, acctually i know you can! lol

umm... also some salons can remove them for you, its really werid, they just pop them off with these tools, its totally painless and doesent ruin ur nails, i dont know if they charge though, mine doesent but that depends!!

usually i just rip mine off, and it doesent hurt or ruin the nail.
Nail polish remover will eventually work, but you could use pure acetone (available from most any hardware store) for must faster results.

Just pour about an inch in to a small glass bowl and soak your nails until they become soft and dissolve.

Use a good moisturizer afterwards though - acetone is pretty strong and will dry out your skin!
Yes you can soak them in acetone- or nail polish remover.

you have to soak them for like 45 minutes

its pretty bad for your nails though, but then again so is acrylics(professional nails) i hope i helped!

Whats Better Stick On Nails Or Professional Nails ?

Hello I Want some Fake Nails And I Dont No weather To Get them Done In a Shop Or buy Stick On Nails ? xWhats Better Stick On Nails Or Professional Nails ?
professional stay on longer and look more fitted and nice

but if you buy them they are cheaper and won't leave dents in your nailWhats Better Stick On Nails Or Professional Nails ?
I would have them done professionally because with fake nails they do not allow air to get to your real nails and then cause a fungus, I know, sadly it happened to me. Plus, the professional nails do not just drop off as the others would
stick on nails never stay on!! go to a salon and get gel nails they are natural looking and more flexible! if you want designs or color to your gel nails ask the salon if they have a minx nail artist?
ive had both id say get acrylic nails theyre amazing i love them nd miss em too much

    http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;鈥?/a>
I think professional nails are better because they stay on for longer and they are stronger than stick-ons because they use stronger glue.
Go to the nail salon, they stay on longer and aren't as brittle! You will be far happier with professional ones.
i would say professional because less likely chance to break off but stick on if you want something cheaper.

  • What kind of nail glue do professionals use?

i wanted to get my nails done but was thinking it would be cheaper just to get the glue and nails but has to be the kind that actually stays on anyone know what its called and where i can get it? the only place near here is Sallys Beauty SalanWhat kind of nail glue do professionals use?
none of them actually stay on for long. usually no more than a day, sometimes a few days. Professionals use acrylic which makes them stay on extremely well....they only use nail glue to put the ';fake'; nail on the top of your real nail...and then they put acrylic over the entire nail. These nails typically stay on for about a month. Its worth it to get them done at the salon. What kind of nail glue do professionals use?
liquid nails is the best, most builders use this for an extra strength adhesive for construction work..............oh hang on.......wrong nails

How to take off professional nails off?

i got my nails done and i'm trying to take them off i don't hasve nail polish remover i was wondering if there was another wayHow to take off professional nails off?
There is no other HEALTHY way to remove acrylic (assuming that's what you have). Many people just crack and then peel them off but this can take several layers of your natural nail off as well, leaving your natural nail beds tender and sensitive, not to mention ugly! I recommend you buy a bottle of pure acetone, not just nail polish acetone remover. Pure acetone is the safest way to remove acrylic or fiberglass nails. Soak them for a while in a small bowl of the acetone and then file with a coarse buffer or scrape them with an 'wooden orange stick.' Keep on repeating this until the additions are all melted off.

If you don't have the time to sit and soak, you can just use a very coarse file and file them down to your natural nail. The drawback with this is that your fingertips may be a bit sore later from all the sawing back and forth motion. You might also file a few layers of your natural nail off.

Whatever you do don't CHIP them off them off in pieces! How to take off professional nails off?
The best and safest way to remove acrylic or any other type of nail enhancement is to have them soaked off. It's not good to have them clipped or ripped off. If a salon tries to do that run out the door! The proper way is to soak them in acetone. It takes longer but is better for your nails. If you don't want to sit there with your fingers in a bowl of acetone try this trick. Completely wet 10 pieces of cotton with acetone. Place one cotton on each fingernail. Put on gloves. Go about your business...checking on them every 20 minutes or so. When the acrylic starts to soften or come off you can help it by buffing gently. Hope this helps
other than to rip them off, no way that I know of. Cut the ends off and let them grow out till they get loose? or just get some nail varnish remoover, or go to a nail place and get them removed
my mom is a nail tech....cut them as short as possible, then soak them in acetone, you can get it at a beauty supply store or walgreens...DONT RIP THEM OFF!!!!!! it will tear up your natural nails. when they are off, put a clear coat on your nails to prevent further damage. they will be very, very weak and will take a few weeks to be 'normal' again.
you need to soak them in acitone nail poilish remover. most nail polish remover is non acitone. do not rip them off it will rip your nail beds!!!!
I would highly recommend going back to the salon and have them soak them off. Believe me , I know. I still have some acrylic left on my nails after months of trying to soak them off myself. They use 100% real acetone and it really dissolves it compeltly. Regular nail polish remover is no where near strong enough to take them off. Plus, it'll take you forever and you'll probably have to file them off at the same time. The only other option is to just rip them off ,but you'll probably rip up part of your nailbed too. Just pay 20 bucks and have the professionals do it. They'll have them off in no time and with less damage to your natural nail.

Anyone know how to get the professional acyrlic nails off without ruining real nails (at home)?

    Hi There!

Having had them on (and off) for many years of my life, I've learned how to do it at home.

All you need to do is go to a local store and get some acetone. Fill a bowl, and soak your nails in it for as long as it takes - sometimes up to 45 minutes. They will start to look like gel and feel soft. You can roll the acrylic off with your other hand and then use a nail file to finish the job.

Hope this helps!Anyone know how to get the professional acyrlic nails off without ruining real nails (at home)?
Go to the drugstore down the nail polish aisle they have little plastic jars of stuff to take it off, you have to soak your nails in it, basically it is acetone nail polish remover. It is much easier than pulling them off they way they do at the salon.Anyone know how to get the professional acyrlic nails off without ruining real nails (at home)?
Well there aren't really any ways to get them off without ruining your real nails (they already are ruined...but not forever). But what I do when I used to wear them is soak them in nail polish remover - then after about 10 minutes, they'll come right off. Your real nails will still be rough since they filed the entire nail when they first put on the acryllic. Then just let your nails grow out and they will be back to the smooth surface again. Hope this helps!
before putting on nails anykind put on some stuff from walmart its like a clear base nailpolish and you put it on before and it makes it a LOT easier to take it off !!! and also try soaking your nails in hot water with alchohol and it wont damage ur nails too badly hope it helps -helen-

Does it hurt when you get fake nails by a professional.?

It doesn't hurt to get them put on but they use acrylic which is the same chemical that they use to clean floors in stores and other industrial buildings. so it isn't very good for your nails but it's super cute!Does it hurt when you get fake nails by a professional.?
    no it doesn't hurt..

but the fumes are horrible..and not worth inhaling..

also..your own natural nails get ruined..

natural buffed or painted are much better looking.Does it hurt when you get fake nails by a professional.?
no it does not its fun and pretty
no but taking them off will be a pain and they ruin your real nails.
no it doesnt hurt at all...... sometimes when the skin on your nails is high up and they push it down and it kinda stingd.... but thats nuthing..... its fine!

Whats the fastest way to get professional fake nails off??

depends on what the ';fake nails'; are made of!

I just answered a long question on taking off acrylic nails...look for it!

you should never pull your nails off!!! (i saw several answers saying you should)Whats the fastest way to get professional fake nails off??
dip your nails in acetone, never bite them offWhats the fastest way to get professional fake nails off??
The best way is to soak it in acetone, but I don't know if that is the fastest or not. I don't know about soaking it in just hot water, that might hurt.
The sally hansens fake nail remover is a life (nail) saver...I just used it today

    Takes about 15 minutes

    costs about $6-$7 at walgreens

I found that one jar works 2-3 times before it gets goopy though....well worth it!
Sally's Beauty Supply sells fake nail remover. I saw it yesterday when I went to buy my nail polish thinner. Love that store.
gosh it may be painfull. . .soak your fingers in warm water first before anything. . .then (and this is what they do) take nail clippers to grab a corner and lift. . .if it starts to hurt dip in HOT water and keep going. . .this is what my friends did and they were quite happy with it, but i wouldnt dare!
    dynamite.

    you said ';fastest'; :)
the best way 2 get professional nails off is 2 run it over some hot water then when it gets soft then take them off

    Is french-manicured nails professional?

my friend did them for me and i think that they are neat in appearance.

i just found out that i have an interview to be an intern in a research lab this week, but my nails just got done.

i personally don't like the way long, unpainted nails look so i'd like to keep the polish on but if they're unprofessional i have no qualms about taking it off...

any opinions? i'd appreciate it if professional ppl who know about interview etiquette could answer

    thanks!Is french-manicured nails professional?
French manicured nails do look professional, and quite neat, UNLESS they are too long!

I would think this might be especially true in a lab setting.

Nails which are too long simply do not look professional, especially for an interview. Neither do nails which are overly bright or painted in 'cute' designs.

The white tips of french polished nails look neat and tidy and as long as they are trim and fresh you should not need to take it off.

If they are longer than a few centimetres above the tops of your fingers, however, they will not look professional.

Good luck in your interview :-)Is french-manicured nails professional?
I'd be more concerned that the nails are getting in the way of you doing your labwork safely. I think they are professional, but may not be the best idea depending on what kind of lab you're in.
If they are not too long, and are neat and look nice, it is fine.

I was a supervisor and suffered through countless interviews.....

    turnoffs: being late

One lady was smacking gum through the interview.

One lady said SH@T twice...while it was funny, not good.

Bad mouthing former employer (even if it is true)

Being willing to leave your current job without giving two weeks (shows lack of loyalty)

On the application....FILL IT OUT...don't put see resume...ticks people off and already shows you're lazy and don't do as you're asked!

    GOOD LUCK!
Yes, definitely. More so than purple, blue or dark red colors.
A French Manicure is perfect for Professional Situations, as well as Formal Events.. so your French Manicure should be okay for your interview.

On another note, when you're being interviewed.. it's common for people (the person doing the interview) to pick up things about the intervee, by the way they dress, carry themselves, speak.. etc..

I've never worked in a lab... but if long nails aren't appropriate for a Lab sort of environment.. which is what I would guess.. then I would make sure your nails are short for the interview.. (and they can still be painted with the French Manicure).. or just cut all the way back.

There are some positions long nails are not appropriate in.. Child care, Teaching, Medical Fields, Secretarial, Office Jobs, and I can go on.. and I'm going to guess Lab would fall in there too..

So if you don't want to send the wrong message.. it's possible you can go to the interview, dress fine, .. but little things like your nails.. if their too long.. could tell the employer that you're not meant for the job.

Believe me.. little things like that.. count.. and half the time it's subconscious in the employers mind.. but it's there..

So think about the length of your nails.. other than that.. a French Manicure is fine.. and it looks good on short nails as well as Long nails..
absolutely. they show that you take pride in yourself. the only acception is, if you're going for an interview in a restaurant, or someplace where you'll be cooking, don't wear nailpolish

  • Do you take you cat to a professional to get his or her nails cut or do you try to cut them yourself?

You can take your cat to a groomer or vet but if you're up to it there is no reason not to do it yourself. (of course your cat may think otherwise but it's always worth a try)

To trim the nails place your cat in your lap or on the floor between your legs. Press on the pad of its paw with your fingers to make the claws come forward. The main part of the claw includes the pinkish-colored area, which contains nerves. Do not cut this part. The white tip (just past the pinkish area) is the dead tissue, which can be cut. Simply take the nail trimmer and cut this white tip off.Do you take you cat to a professional to get his or her nails cut or do you try to cut them yourself?
We cut our cats' nails ourselves. We have two of them. One person holds the cat with one arm, and holds a bag of catnip in front of their nose with the other hand. They just go in a trance and the second person starts cutting the nails. It's done in no time.Do you take you cat to a professional to get his or her nails cut or do you try to cut them yourself?
You can do it yourself. I put my in a towel and hold them and i have my boyfriend cuts them. If you do them yourself just becareful and don't cut them down to the quick. Thats where the pink part starts.
I take mine (Turkish Angora) to the groomer to have ANYTHING done. He will NOT allow me to do anything to him except spoil him rotten. You've got to be really careful in nail clipping because there's a vein that runs through the nail, and if you cut that, you're going to have blood all over, and maybe even a trip to the vet to stop the bleeding. Believe me, a groomer is a WHOLE LOT cheaper than a ';repair job'; at the vet. A groomer usually only charges about $10 to $15 for a nail clipping, some do it for less. Plus, there's a lot less wear and tear on YOU and your cat. They're always ';good'; for somebody else.
    It is relatively easy to trim a cat's nails. I trim all of my own cat's nails, except for one. She has to be lightly sedated by the vet so they can be trimmed. But she is certainly not the ';norm.';

If you start when a cat is a kitten, it is easier to get the cat to cooperate. Start out by trimming only one or two nails with lots of praise and a treat. This also work's with older cats as well. Patience is the key.

Make sure not to cut too close. Cut where the nail ';hooks'; or ';humps'; over.

    Good luck!
I do my cats myself, it's not hard and then after I give them a treat.
I do it myself. I got them as kittens so I just started doing it right away to get them used to it. Neither enjoys the process but they submit. I always give them a treat afterwards too.

One tip I learned is not to pull the cats leg away from it's body. Keep it as close to them as possible.
I do all our cat's nails twice a month. Right after doing mine. They ALL know the sound of the fingernail clippers and some will run at first, but I talk them through it and it's not much of a problem.
I started cutting my cat's nails when he was a kitten. He wasn't too keen at first but got more comfortable and doesn't seem to mind now.

Like others said, you have to be careful not to cut them too short or it will hurt your cat. I accidentally cut one of my cat's nails too short *once* and he still flinches a little when I get to that one. It feels awful to know that I hurt him :\
I have two cats. I do the one myself becasue he will let me trim his nails and bathe him. The other one I have to take somewhere to get everything done because I have been scratched and bit so many times I just gave up
i cut them myself, just go to like a target or walmart or whatever you have and go to the cat/dog section, they have toe nail clippers for pets, real easy. and a lot cheaper

    Keeping nails professional-looking?

Due to my career, I need to keep my fingernails trimmed and filed super short. I still want to put polish on them, though. Which colors I could I put on short nails and keep them professional-looking? There's always the clear gloss option, but that's boring. Can someone still project a professional image with red or pink short nails, or should I keep them clear?Keeping nails professional-looking?
French is always way to go but it depends on ur career too because sometimes they look at the nails clar is nice and also white try light colorsKeeping nails professional-looking?
    Clear or french.

There are things you can do to make those more interesting while still being safely understated. If you go to a nail salon, you could have them airbrush a subtle design in white (better with french) or a small gem on one of your nails.

Tips give them a cleaner look, but keep them short and square.

I need a professional ,good quality and clean nail salon in the bronx or Westchester county?

    Hi,

Girl we all loved to get our nails done in order to keep up with our apperance which is healthy.Every two weeks i go to the nail salon and put acrylic on my natural nails. However i did some reasearch where salon would use a danger chemical called MMA which destory the nails and health diseases .(As per Tammy Taylor check out on youtube and other sites.)She states that nail salon use the product MMA especiall if the prices are in expensive.I pay 22 dollars on every visit. And guess i'm not going anymore.I need a salon which does not use the chemicals that are exprience. She also points out that naiol technician who uses the chemicals will often put a mask to protect from the odor.

I need a nail salon in the bronx or weschester county to provide excellent services ..instead of the cheap nails salons that you will find in the city.No wonder they charge so little.I need a professional ,good quality and clean nail salon in the bronx or Westchester county?
You said that you wanted to have your nails healthy. NEWS FLASH!!! Acrylic's are the WORST thing. They ruin your nails. Just stick to getting simple manicures.

What is the thing professional salons use to remove our cuticles before they apply artificial nails?

It's the thing that makes buzzing noises like a dentist drill and it is plugged in. What is that called? Thanks! What is the thing professional salons use to remove our cuticles before they apply artificial nails?
Its just a Nail Drill Machine. You buy different tips for different things. They have a tip just for removing cuticles.

HELP?! My nail polish keeps on peeling? And I use professional products?

    I use orly and essie.

    Unfortunetly, I keeps on peeling?!

I use the top coat and everything.

    And It's so aggravating!

    how can I prevent this?

    ____

Is it because I use the top coat as my base coat too?HELP?! My nail polish keeps on peeling? And I use professional products?
I know this sounds retarded. But try using a cheap nail polish. And i know this sounds even stupider, but bon bons is great. haha. i used my friends and it worked great and didnt' peel. :) Sometimes cheaper is better.HELP?! My nail polish keeps on peeling? And I use professional products?
That used to happen to me too!

What i do is JUST apply the colored nail polish, not the top coat of clear and then do a second coat of the color and it stays on pretty well!

Don't use clear it seems to get to thick and then just fall off!
I go to 5 belo and get a bunch of really cheap crappy nail polishes...

With a few coats of the cheap stuff I go a week or more without peeling.
I find that adding a clear shimmer/glitter top coat helps with the peeling.
Maybe you should give it more time for the polish to dry in between coats.
try a different brand..this one seems not be work for you.. :o)

  • What color should i paint my nails? I dont want to look childish, but i want to look professional.?

also, i want a color that can go with pretty much whatever color outfit i choose to wear. My nails are a little longer than my finger tips if that matters. Thanks. What color should i paint my nails? I dont want to look childish, but i want to look professional.?
French manicure is pretty and goes with everything. What color should i paint my nails? I dont want to look childish, but i want to look professional.?
A french manicure goes with anything!

it's easy if you use tape to do it, but try not to make the line up too high or straight across!
    cubby blue
Any fingernail polish that is a neutral color, like, peach, tan, very light pink, even clear. You might consider a matte finish which is more professional, not metallic or with sparkles which looks more fun. Basically if you would consider the color boring in taste, then it's probably appropriate to wear to work. I personally think the French manicure with white polished tips with a clear coat overlay looks the best. If you are having a hard time deciding, paint each nail a different color on each hand and hold them up to your wardrobe in your closet and see which color would go the best with everything . Good luck!

    From this website:

    http://www.honeybeegardens.com/natural-c鈥?/a>

Here's a palette from which to choose:

    http://www.honeybeegardens.com/mm5/merch鈥?/a>

From that palette, 'San Francisco' is pale, but sophisticated; 'Desire' or 'Risque' are warm and sophisticated; and 'Vintage Merlot' is rich, but might be difficult to 'go' with your ensembles. Everything really depends, really, on your coloring, so hold your hand up to the swatches to see what appeals. :-)

    Have fun!
you could to do red its really classy or you could go with neutral and do a tan color or you could try and go with french tips
Its the begining of fall so all the bright summer colors are out so Id go with a brown or red or a plain french manicure with white on white. Unless you live in constant summer than it can be a light pink or irredesent color like ';balerina slippers'; or ';marshmellow';. Def no black or hot neon color and nothing un-natural like blue, green, or purple.
You could do a light peach color (depending on your skin tone) or wine red.
    black is professional and fun
BLACK is not professional ... trust me I got in trouble at my job for having black nail polish. I'd say pink
a red is always professional but not to bright
just get a baige or tannish cream paint them 2 coats after that use the white nails to do the french manicure look then top it off with light pink coat or clear whatever you perfer.
hugss.. well this depends on your age... if your older ..then how about very pale pinks... frosts even... and also a good manicure and color ..even just a french manicure makes a girl look more mature and professional.. staya way from th blue..black..deep dark reds... purple etc.. those are childish and or gothic..if ya want to look professional... hugsss and just experiment...
It depends how professional your job is. If it's REALLY professional, then try light colors, not bright ones. Like instead of a hot pink, do a light pink. It can be hard to find light colors in nail polish, though. But just find either neutral or like someone said, peachy colors, that aren't too bright. My mom used to wear a really dull/light plum color and it was okay.

How do you get off acyrilic nails done at a professional salon?

time to take them offfff! How do you get off acyrilic nails done at a professional salon?
Usually just by soaking them in warm water does the trick, but if it doesn't, use nailpolish remover with acetone or just pure acetone - soak 10 cotton balls in it, and place one on each fingernail, and wrap tightly with foil. Keep on for about 20-30 minutes. Remove one at a time and scrape off nail tip and any residue with orange stick. Buff out any rough spots and put on lots of sesame oil in your cuticles and nailbeds. Keep moisturized. I am doing this tonight after cutting down my acrylics. Wore them for at least 10 years, and every 6 months or so, I take them off for a breather. Tired of them completely now, there aren't any really good nail places around, just cheapie places that use bad materials and do crummy jobs. Going to splurge on weekly manicures instead. How do you get off acyrilic nails done at a professional salon?
u can soak ur fingertips in nail polish remover but it has to be the kind with acetone in it...non-acetone will not work...the acetone dissolves/melts the nails right off, or u can rip them off but that hurts
the salon can help you take them off...
Use acetone nail polish remover. But here is a trick to keep you mobile...soak a cotton swab for each finger in the remover and then wrap each of your fingers with foil. 45 minutes, and it's a wrap (depending on how much remover you put on the swabs).
    pull them off

it may hurt but whatevah :0)
You can go to a salon and they will remove them. Or, you have a couple options. A friend of mine recently took hers off by soaking them in acetone based polish remover, which loosened them up. She said it took a long time. I am letting mine grow out, by keeping the nails very short and have filed down the ridge created by the last fill.
acetone nail polish remover should do it. Soak them for 15-20 minutes and they should come off easily. Moisturize your nails after taking them off as acetone can dry the nail.
At the salon they soak them in nail polish remover then carefully cut them off. You have to be really careful though because you can tear off part of your nail doing this. You might consider just going to the salon and having them do it. It costs less than getting the full set done.
Go to Walmart and in the nail isle there'll be a tall bottle of acrylic nail remover. I don't remember the name but that's whre to find it. It's only about $4. You have to soak your nails in that stuff and it takes awhile. If you rip em off your nails will look crappy for a couple months. Don't do that! I've been through it.
Go out and buy acetone nail polish removed and soak them in it. The acetone melts the nails off. Or I do believe they have nail remover as well that you can buy, but your best bet is acetone nail polish remover, i did this and it worked.
OK, the correct way is this: Soak your hands in a small shallow bowl acetone; found in any beauty supply store. The acrylic nails become soft after about 30 minutes or so, and you can scrape them off with an orange stick.

My way: I cut mine down with a nail clipper, then slip a thin file or another new, loose, acrylic nail between the acrylic and my own nail, and pop the acrylic nail off. It works OK most of the time this way. I can hurt a little, but only for a little while. I've even had the nail ladies take my nails off this way.

But at home, I don't have time to soak my nails off. Please be careful with the acetone. Do not have it around any open flames, candles, cigarettes, etc. Acetone is HIGHLY flammable and will burn your house down!
You can go and buy nail polish remover and soak them in that. Most of the time that works.

How can I cut my nails so that they look good and professional?

Or any websites that shows you how?How can I cut my nails so that they look good and professional?
Trim them so that there is only a thin amount of white at the tip. If you're feeling confident, use an emery board just to smooth the edge. I do like seeing a man who takes the time to actually groom his nails, but it doesn't have to be any fancier than that. How can I cut my nails so that they look good and professional?
srry no website, but try just cuting them straight across and put clear nail polish on them ;)
Well first you cut them any size you want then take a nail file and shape how you want it!!
just put on fake ones, easier.
just make it simple and neat. no cuticle or others.simple is beautiful.
    go to a porfessional
Buy nail cliper at the dollar store and cut right at range not too deep.

I wanted to ask about going to have my nails done by a professional nailtech.?

I am a senior in highschool and im also a cheerleader. i wanted to ask if its ok for me to have acrylic fingernails and still cheerlead. All of my friends have acrylic nails and im jealous because they have beautiful long fingernails and i want to have my fingernails long as well.I wanted to ask about going to have my nails done by a professional nailtech.?
first to the person that gave the first answer--how do long nails make you look trampy????? that's STUPID!!!!! its the person that's trampy not the nails (get it right boo boo)

anyways yes to answer your question you can have nail enhancements and still cheer no matter what the length.... but if you're not use to having them then i would suggest getting them a little shorter than what your friends have and then gradually increase the length as you maintain them....professionally speaking you should have them removed once a month so that your natural nail bed can breath and leave them off for 2-3 weeks before getting them back on then you can increase the length if you wanted to.....also i HIGHLY suggest that you keep them maintained every 2-3 weeks so they wont start popping or lifting...hthI wanted to ask about going to have my nails done by a professional nailtech.?
I don't see why not! Just be careful that you don't get them too long (which can look trampy anyways!) or they'll break and the polish will chip.

Is this a professional look for my nails?

I wear my nails short and tidy, buffed smooth and painted only with clear nail polish. Is this a cute look? and also, does it match along with a preppy clothing style? Is this a professional look for my nails?
If professional is what you're looking for, yeah, that's okay. Any color is okay with your nails if you're professional, just don't use anything neon or bright. Is this a professional look for my nails?
not at all preppy goes for light pink but thats the lightest if you want to go natural try getting french manicures.
    oh ya maaan
    Sounds both professional and preppy.
    sure? why would people look at your nails anyway? when i see someone i don't think, ';Wow their nails don't match their outfit at all!';

I don't think anyone will care......
    Yeah, that's cute.. :)

I love french manicures personally. It looks clean, neat, and you can have a french manicure even if your nails or short, and it still looks good. Clear nail polish is good too.. as long as your nails look tidy and cute..

Is it possible to get professional looking solar or acrylic nails at home, doing them myself?

I like the French manicure type. What is the best kit to use or is there one that's just as good as the salon jobs?Is it possible to get professional looking solar or acrylic nails at home, doing them myself?
it is possible to get salon looking nails at home. Really, you dont have to go to a salon to get fab looking nails. All you need is nail tips (you can get any set- they usually come with glue and a nail file...some come with the acrylic gel too)...and then read the instructions. A good set will inform you of the do's and donts.

If you have been to a salon at least once, you would have seen what they do, how they do it. If the first job doesnt look so good- practice makes perfect, lol!

Remember that shorter nails are less likely to break — especially dangerously low, where infection can occur — so keep nails trimmed. Do not attempt to “file off” streaks, stains or brown spots. (Not only won’t this work, it also can damage the nail bed and cause infection.) Gently push back cuticles without cutting or removing them. You can moisturize dry nails with a light moisturizer, cuticle cream, or even olive oil. However, avoid exfoliating lotions and hand creams containing alpha hydroxy or beta hydroxy acids (i.e., glycolic, lactic, salicylic), which can make nails more brittle. (If you go to a professional manicurist, bring your own sterilized tools. Also, request gentle procedures and products, as well as a fresh soaking solution.)

When nails are prepped, select a polish without formaldehyde, a common ingredient that increases dryness and yellowing. For fewer touch-ups, try a light shade that downplays chipping and add a clear, protective top coat.

Other tips: Avoid artificial nails, which use harsh chemical adhesives and can cause damage. Also, during chores where hands are submerged in water, remember to wear household gloves. What are the steps to do home professional nails?
you can buy a kit from the store, then you cut the nails and file them down to what looks nice on you,I have done it many times and they always turn out very nice.

What is the most professional-looking nail polish?

I want to find nail polish which would be suitable to wear to work every day and wouldn't be too flashy, shiny, bright or drawing attention, but at the same time not too dull, boring and colorless. What brand %26amp; color would you suggest? What is the most professional-looking nail polish?
OPI Dolce de Leche. What is the most professional-looking nail polish?
actually i read somewhere that red is classic, clear, and light pink as in the french pink that's used BUT NOT freched nails. Alot of people say it looks tacky, specially with a bit longer nails.
that's a shame that where now being judged for our nails, that's doesn't make no sense!anyway,if i were you i would just get a french manicure its cute its sexy and its professional
just try something shiney but almost nude. it will give you a little sparkle but still be subtle. also you could get a french mannicure. those are really cute and professional.
I agree with the French manicure. With trimmed nails, nothing too long.
French manicure, it's sexy, classy and professional all in one.
French Manicure and I would go with OPI or Loreal brands.
I own a financial Company and I know what you mean about your nails. Clear is nice but seems so boring and I have found the easiest (who has time for a french manicure) is this new polish that came out recently. It's called Star Opal nail glaze (Sally Hansen). It's phenomenal! It's has a little see though pink color with the tiny specks of real opal in it (not to much - it's just right). It's beautiful %26amp; Unique. So it's very professional, with nice shiny nails, a little hint of color %26amp; some star style.
A CLEAR COAT ONLY IT GOS WITH EVERYTHING
O-P-I...I love the stuff, and it's not TOO steep in price.
I would suggest the Nicole Miller range of products. They are good and very affordable.

    Marci'a
I think a french manicure is the most professional looking.
OPI's ';romance'; collection is filled with beautiful colors, that are natural tones, not too shiney, but they are very pretty. OPI runs for about $7.50/bottle, and can be found at most nail salons and/or hair salons.
Short, well-manicured nails are always the most professional-looking. As far as colors, clear is always ';in';. Other understated colors are opaque nudes, opaque light pinks, and sheer pastels. OPI and Essie are great brands. If you need a drugstore option, Revlon delivers a nice polish.

OPI Samoan Sand for a nude

Essie Ballet Slippers for a light pink
No color is best! So...go with either an American or French manicure so your nails look natural.
OPI is definitely really good. but wet 'n wild is really good too (and a lot cheaper). i know it sounds weird but that stuff lasts like a week.. longer than some of the expensive brands.

Quick question about professional fake nails?

Ok so i got my nails done professionally for the first time and i heard that it hurts when you take them off=/ and can mess up your nails..i was wondering if theres an easier way to take them off or if paying that extra money for them to take them off for you is worth it.

any advice is good! thanks!Quick question about professional fake nails?
Go to the salon and pay 5 dollars to take them off, never do them again! It messes up your nails right away! If you take them off yourself like with a metro card it will leave you with almost no layer of a nail and look horrible! Don't do it again even though they are pretty, grow them, file them(it makes them grow long) and paint them weekly, or paint them clear every 2 days. Take biotin vitamins it grows your hair and nails and good for skin. Then you can go waste money on fixing your nails and not messing them up.

What is the powder and liquid stuff they put on ur nails for professional nails?

It is acrylic powder and liquid.

Will my real nails still be messed if i get my fake nails removed by a professional?

I want to get my nails done professionally again but i heard they mess up your nails!! I was wondering if anyone knew if i get them removed by a professional if it will still mess them up?Will my real nails still be messed if i get my fake nails removed by a professional?
If you can find a really good licensed nail technician and are willing to pay more than our average discount nail salon, there should be no damage done to your nails. The technician knows how to buff down your nails correctly and will not put added damage on them.

Also, they NEVER should tear off your artificial nails. For acrylic nails they will soak them in acetone and warm water then wipe the gooey acrylic goop off after it melts. They can buff off the rest.. never would they ever just pry them off. That is just wrong and dangerous.

For gel nails which is what I prefer because they feel more natural and never lift, they have to file the artificial gels off. Gel nails do the least damage to your nails particularly because you don't need to come back as often for a fill.

Do some research on good nail technicians in your area.. invest some good money on a nice full set and make sure when they remove your nails that they soak them not try to pop them off. OUCH!Will my real nails still be messed if i get my fake nails removed by a professional?
By ';messed up'; I think that most people are alluding to the fact that when you get acrylic nails put on, the technician will smooth the top of the nail out, and when the acrylic is removed the nails are very thin and extremely easy to break. Having them taken off professionally will not keep them from being thin, however there are perks. If you have them removed by a professional, they will look much better than if you were to take them off yourself, and it will also be painless. I have attempted to take off acrylic nails by myself, and I ended up with chunks of acrylic left over, and very sore nails. Hope I helped. =)
Yes, I had acrylic nails. I decided I didn't want them anymore. The lady at the salon took them off and beside being very time consuming, my nails were pretty much destroyed ntil new nail grew in.
yeah i had acrylics and no matter what they ruin your nails

its because they file them down before and it makes them paper thin

yes. all they do is rip them off the same way u would
The answer is that it depends on where you go, and what type of a nail tech does the removal. Proper removal of acrylic nails requires the use of pure acetone for best results.

If you went to a very reputable salon who does nails the right way, and has skilled, experienced nail techs, they will generally soak off your nails in acetone. This is an accepted and proven method of safely removing acrylic nails.

The other type of salon that can do the removal for you is commonly referred to as an NSS (Non-Standard Salon). This is loosely defined as the kind of nail salon that charges rock bottom prices for nail services, such as like $25 or less for a full set of acrylic nails. These salons are the ones that people go to and have their nails ruined by inexperienced, and unskilled salon workers from overfiling your nails, and by ripping the acrylic nails off. Those are only two of the ways in which NSS's ruin your nails. Unfortunately, many people go to these salons because of the cheap prices, and fast service they provide. Alsoo, no appointment is needed. While this may be convenient, and cheap for the customer, the reality is that going to one of these salons is truly a bad idea overall. Is it really worth the little bit of savings you get from going to these chop shops who do not take pride in their work, and thus ruin them because they really don't know how to nails in the first place? The rate of turnover in these salons is incredibly high. That makes for a poor choice of nail salons to have your nails done at. But, people for some reason will still go to these places because they are cheap and convenient. They generally have never been to a reputable salon before, and start to believe that the way the NSS salons do nails is the ONLY way that nails are done. Hence, all the answers that you are getting that talk about how they file your natural nails down until they are paper thin, and how they rip your nails off and ruin them in that way also.

If they had only taken the time to find a highly reputable technician whom you will be able to understand when speaking with them because 99% of them speak English as their native language - unlike the typical NSS salon where there is a huge language barrier in just about every single one of them - then this whole problem would never have been a problem to begin with!!! Sure, it may cost more for a good salon with great techs, but it is soooo worth it. The difference is truly like night and day, seriously. I've been doing nails for a long time now, and I have seen countless customers who have come to me AFTER going to an NSS and having their nails ruined by them. I have spent countless hours repairing the shoddy work that their previous salon did to them. It's sad, but true. I have seen the way these people have ruined nails, and it's not really a pretty sight.

So, the answer to your question is still: It depends on where you go to have them removed. Go to an NSS, and they will almost certainly rip your nails off. BUT, make an appointment with a highly regarded nail technician, and you will be most likely rather pleased with the results you get from them. Its up to you. I gave you the cold hard facts about nail salons the truth based upon my many years of professional experience in the nail industry doing nails the 'right' way. Now, it's up to you to decide which suits your needs better.

    Best wishes!

I bite my Nail's all the time and i need to stop because i need to be more professional?

i just started my new job and i dont want to do it anymore

help me!!!!plz any tip?I bite my Nail's all the time and i need to stop because i need to be more professional?
Perhaps wearing gloves might help.I bite my Nail's all the time and i need to stop because i need to be more professional?
i am so in legue with you. get a manicure. with nail polish one your more likely to bite them and carry gum with you because with gum in your mouth you wont stik your nail in there. and if your dont want to get a main or cant afford in paint them yourself a simple red or something sexy but professional because it will be more likely to flake in your mouth and trust me bitten off nail polish doesnt taste good.
Go to your local chemist. You should be able to buy a clear poilish aimed at getting people to stop biting their nails. You can get one that is made with a bad taste so every time you stick your fingers in your mouth it tastes like s**t.

You might look a bit wierd with clear polish but its better then having icky bitten nails or even wearing coloured polish.
It's called ';Stop n Grow'; - I had to use it too. It's not as glossy as real nailpolish, so you can't really tell. It tastes horrible so you won't bite your nails. Keep using it till you break the habit. Or you could wear gloves at home and while you're out, if it's winter where you are (like it is where I am).
dang i bite my nails too alot to the point of bleeding =( and its an addiction lol but this one time my sister put clear nail thingy on one of my fingers and i would not bite it cuz i didn't want to get nail thingy in my mouth and well it ended up growing. so i guess you could coat your nails with that clear nail thingy but then again, it makes your nails shiny so it might look kinda fruity, unless your ok with that lol nvm
Here is something for only $8 a bottle that is for stopping nail biting. I'm sure it must taste awful but it's not very expensive. It is supposed to take 21 days to break a habit so you'll have to stick with it at least that long.

    Good luck!! : /
Well its a nervous habit, and people that bite nails need to be doing something. I quit by having gum, or a toothpick. Also if you need some more support, look up whats under nails. Its really gross, that's what got me to stop.
Ive been biting my nails since i was five. And putting acrylics really helps and lets your real nail grow at the same time..Plus if you try biting them and taking them off it'll be painful so its great and it keeps you from bittting them while your nails look great! :)
Nail biting is a very bad habit and it is very difficult to get rid of.I had this habit and completely stopped now.

I want to RE-PIERCE my nose and labret, any advice, besides go to a professional or rusty nail answers??!!?

both my nose and labret had been pierced for 7 months before they closed 4 months ago when I went into the hospital and had to take them out.I want to RE-PIERCE my nose and labret, any advice, besides go to a professional or rusty nail answers??!!?
SICK! You pierced your nose and you are going to do it again? Sick! How old are you?

Why is it when you get a professional manicure your nails are sooo shiny?

I have tried everything at home, every top-coat, clear coat etc. on my nails, and yet I never can achieve that same pretty shine and perfection that I get if I get my nails done professionally. And I don't have arcrylic nails or anything, just my regular nails. What can I do to get the pro look at home? Thanks! Why is it when you get a professional manicure your nails are sooo shiny?
It's probably a combination of technique as well as product. But I'd suggest you ask your manicurist what products (base coat, shade and top coat) she's been using for you!

Also, buy a ';buffing'; tool. You can find them at any beauty supply shop... even some drugstores. They're amazing, and will give your nails a SUPER high shine with no polish whatsoever!

I would also recommend Sally Hansen (as the poster above suggested). I use the ';MEGA SHINE'; Extended Wear Top Coat (silver bottle). It's an amazing product, gives super-shine, dries quick and lasts for days!

Good Luck! Why is it when you get a professional manicure your nails are sooo shiny?
I think they use some kind of stuff that powder, I think.
because they use all those different lotions and everything. and actually i'm not sure. it's like they do voodoo so you keep coming back. those asians.
they might look really shiny if they get you to use the ultra violet topcoat and then let your nails dry under an ultra violet light. i dont know if that makes it shinier, but it makes it last longer because it hardens the polish.

i use sally hansen topcoat and its really shiny. maybe try putting on 2 coats?
One thing that is important is to polish the nail, which needs to be free of polish, etc when you do it. This brings out the natural shine. There are utensils at the nail aisle that will polish the nail into a lovely shine.

Also, a visit to your local beauty supply store, and asking questions as to products available will allow you to purchase the same things the manicurist uses in her salon. A sale is a sale and they will be glad to help you.
Because they are PROFESSIONALS, they do that for a living. Next time you're there ask them what they are using on your nails, then maybe you can buy it.

*10 POINTS!!* Are Dark Nail Polishes Un-Professional For Work (Lincoln Park by OPI)?

I work as a legal assistant and was wondering if very dark nail polish (darkest brown color, almost black) is unprofessional for work..my boss is not the type to mind I believe, but I just dont have the confidence to wear it even though I love this color*10 POINTS!!* Are Dark Nail Polishes Un-Professional For Work (Lincoln Park by OPI)?
No i do not believe it is unprofessional at all. You are just showing who you are and your more edgy side. As long as your dressed professional i don't believe your nails would ruin it for ya, it just shows You care what you look like.*10 POINTS!!* Are Dark Nail Polishes Un-Professional For Work (Lincoln Park by OPI)?
I love Lincoln Park! It's my favorite OPI polish and I was wearing it to work last week. I don't think it's necessarily unprofessional, but you'll still have to consider your work environment. If it's a particularly conservative office, you may want to stick with nudes or beiges. But as someone else stated, it can always be quickly removed if it's ';too much';. Maybe you could work up to it? Try OPI ';Boris and Natasha'; - it's kind of a raisin color - dark, but not as dark as Lincoln Park, so you can test the waters.

The worst thing about these kinds of dark nail polishes, though, are that they'll show every flaw and chip, and we all know chipped nails are never a good look in an office. As long as you keep them neat and trimmed, and the polish is in good condition, Lincoln Park should be fine for most offices.

In my opinion, the colors to stay away from in an office are the ';brights'; - bright red, bright orange, etc. - and the ';weird'; colors - blues, greens, greys, etc.
Dark nail lacquers look chic and polished with short nails (length not far past the tip of your finger). Dark manicures are high maintenance and if you type a lot they chip quickly and start to look a little punk-rockish. Keeping the length short will help with that.

The good thing about nail lacquer? It comes off pretty easy - so if you DID try it and your boss didn't like it, you could use polish remover pads and get rid of it lickety-split! (I keep Cutex nail polish remover pads in my bag at all times. I swear by them!)
My mother is a paralegal and works closely with a lawyer every day.. She had the same debate not long ago about wearing dark nail polishes. She started with her toes and after building the confidence, she painted her nails, the darkest she's gone was a dark dark red, maroon kind of. She chose this color because well, shes big on being a good influence on me and my other siblings. But I would recommend you to go for it. It makes you look more mature and if you wear it with semi-long nails (or your own like me) your fingers look slimmer.
it depends on your skin tone. and what you wear. always avoid gems and nail decorations.

peronally i think black/brown might be pushing it if you have pale skin but it might be okay with darker skin tones.

to be on the safe side redish browns and red are safer or american manicure style beige with white tips is a good safe look as is french manicure!
As long as you don't have a funky design on your nails then it should be just fine. My mom is a big sales woman, and she gets different colors all the time. people don't have a problem with it at all...She keeps her nails in top shape to make her self look nice, you should do the same thing.
Most suits I wear are dark, and I've actually worn black before. As long as you like it, go for it! All colors are in now. Being well-groomed doesn't dictate color, especially if you feel your boss is particularly tolerant :)
I think that dark nail polish is okay for work but not black. And make sure that if you do wear dark colors that they dont chip because that definitely looks unprofessional. dark browns and reds are very classy i think. Good luck :)
I think that depends on what type of work you do. I am a dental hygienist and wouldn't were dark nail polish. I don't think it should be a problem in your field, try it on a Friday!
Actually, Dark colors are good for work because it shows you are more mature. Bright ones are some to worry about. YES wear this color. Do not worry about what will happen because you will go and get several compliments!
Not as long as it goes with your outfit, and is well-kept. Chipped nailpolish is super tacky. Dark nailpolish is a trend right now, it's not punk rock like it used to be.
It depends on what your job is. I think It's up to you or your boss. not black though. I wear neon green fingers sometimes Im at the front desk. I deal with people. just dont go overbored.
I don't think it's unprofessional at all. Just make sure it's applied nicely and it'll look both great and appropriate :)
it looks amazing and its definitely not unproffesional so long as they are neat. it will look really smart too so go for it :D
    listen babe

it's alright to have a dark type of nail polish

i use it all the time.
as long as it matches your shoes its ok thats alll that matters for looking professinal other than not looking like a slutt
yes. Black nail polish is not something you would like to show up at work with.

hope it helped you a little:D
As long as you are professional, who cares what color your nails are :D go for it! I love those colors

No cash for salon and really need professional look that lasts. Have new supplies but not getting results needed.Make nail polish look salon perfect, professional, and not peel?
It depends on how much experience u have in doing ur nails...

The easiest ways to do the (almost) perfect nails (not even salons can do u perfectly) are:

    - use an expensive nail enamel/polisher, because it is true they contain ingredients that make the nail polisher last longer %26amp; look perfect + may even influence strengthening of ur nails.

    - just keep ur nails clean, than file %26amp; shape ur nails %26amp; at the end buff %26amp; polish ... u get perfectly shiny nails in no time %26amp; don't need 2 polish them... I am doing this lately cos I have no time 2 polish my nails every 3-4 days cos I like darker colors which fade %26amp; lose brightnes faster, and I too like the 'perfect look'...

    - or use the 2 or 3 step french maniqure - I believe u can buy those in parfumeries where u live...Make nail polish look salon perfect, professional, and not peel?
Here's the instruction that me and my friends use when we wanna primp! it's basically what they do at the manicures places, but you can do it yourself! :)

How do you cut/file your nails like a professional?

I need to do my nails tonight, i have no time to go to the salon. how can i make sure not to cut it too short/not make it crooked etc? thanksHow do you cut/file your nails like a professional?
file into a sqqare shape and lightly file the edges so the side of your nail isnt sharp. Add a very light coat on color once its completley dried add a good heavier coat of color once that is dried add a clear top coat that will make it look shiner anad more polished. When appluing the nail polish make it as smooth as possible and dont leave brush strokes.

    Professional top coat nail polish?

when i've had a manicure done at the salon they use a top coat polish which lasts forever, its like a gel and when it dries it feels kind of plastic.

does anyone know where i can get a polish like this in the UK?Professional top coat nail polish?
Jessica top coat. it hardens and should grow out with your nails, if when washing up and doing any other task with water you use gloves. its amazing.

What do you look for in a professional Nail Tech?

I've been a nail tech for 19 yrs and I've on a short leave of absense the past 3. Since then things have changed, the market has changed. I'm doing a little research/survey on what clients are looking for when it comes to getting thier nails done either manicures or applications. Also for pedicures to. Are you looking for the in and out attitude, warm and personalble, someone you can talk to, or just do my nail and get me the heck outta her girl. There are so many discount salons around who seem to not want or unable to communicate with their clientele or care about great customer service and pampering as well as excellent sanitation. Let me know what you like or dislike. IT will help me in my new marketing. I'm thinking of becoming a mobile tech doing in home services and parties instead of sitting around in a salon and paying half my commission to an owner of the company. Also it would help to what you pay for full sets, fills, pedicures. Thanks and Blessings to you! I SHOULD ALSO ADD I LIVE IN MICHIGAN.What do you look for in a professional Nail Tech?
just nice, talkative... able to speak english very well...

with alot of asian nail techs, ive just had bad experiances with the ones who live nearby, they cant speak english very well, (i asked for a plain french manicure and walked out with red nails with a deign) i didnt mind much i actually liked it so i didnt ask her to fix it but.. you get the point.

What is a nice, dark, professional nail color??

I always have my nails painted black, because it matches everything. I have an interview this Monday and I don't want to have black nails when I go in. What is a nice, dark color that's professional?? I DO NOT do French manicures, so please don't suggest it. I want a nice DARK color that will go over well on my interview. I am also not a huge fan of brown.

I have fake nails, so I do not want to leave them unpainted. Any suggestions are appreciated (Except French!!!) I want a nice solid dark professional nail color. What is a nice, dark, professional nail color??
An interview is only a few minutes affair, i suggest you sacrifice your love for dark colors for that day. You can use deep colors anyways once you get the job, but never use dark colors for your nails during interviews. Stay with light/neutral shades. That can help you achieve a professional look.

Other dark shades only work if you apply for a job in the fashion industry. Even if you wear darks/deeps on your nails they wont really care, as long as you can carry a fashionable look they will love.

Good luck!!!What is a nice, dark, professional nail color??
i think i might agree with whomever said lighter colours... maybe like a creamy colour?

    or perhaps a greyish blue?

    hrm.. or a dark blue??

what colours are you planning on wearing to the interview??

    congrats on the interview btw
Hey well, i think this all depends also on what colour you will be wearing.

However i think a dark mauve/purple colour would look great, you said you are not a huge fan of brown, but how about a burgundy colour, brownish with a hint of red(but very dark)?

Sorry if im not any help, best of luck for your interview though!
i think purple my um weres it all the time :-) %26lt;3
i love, and would suggest any of the 4 colors from the 'deliciously dark' series by OPI. you may run into some trouble finding it however, since it is only a limited series. if you cant, opi has other great darks such as in their new 'Russian' collection - SIBERIAN NIGHTS for example. for an interview, i wouldn't go totally black, especially since you have fake nails which are probably on the longer side. opt for something with an undertone of maroon or deep purple
I would suggest a dark crimson red. Red can be very professional. Think The Devil wears Prada Red!
    Mags!!!!

    :) :)

    Love and ducky hugs :)
    deep dark ruby red
I'm not sure ...maybe a nice burgundy?

Personally I find dark colors distracting....maybe for an interview you could try a neutral (natural..not french!) color...something that won't jump out..

You want the interviewer to be focused on YOU not your nails....(heck it's only for one day!)
    what about one of these?:

    http://www.opi.com/Russian.asp

i like the SIBERIAN NIGHTS one and MIDNIGHT IN MOSCOW...

    good luck with your interview.

  • Professional nail files - what grit?

Hi All, I need to get a variation of nail files for my nail technician course but I'm unsure which ones to buy. What grit is a light, medium and coarse file? Is it best to get a file just one grit or different sides? I prefer the sponge files rather than the emery boards. Any help appreciated.Professional nail files - what grit?
Here are a few links to help you decide what you need in terms of files. Personally, I use Entity Beauty files %26amp; buffers - for the most part anyway. Well, when I use files that is. Mostly, I have been using an electric file for the past couple of years and love it. Shaping %26amp; finishing the nail is reduced by about 50% using an e-file. But really, that is a whole different topic in itself! E-files are quite expensive, and one should be properly trained on them or they can easily do more damage than good. Back to Entity Beauty now... Their Shiner is unbelieveable! It shines both natural %26amp; acrylic nails quick, easy, and fast. But, of course, you must progress from a lower grit file to a higher grit biffer - then finally to the shiner itself. But this is true for any brand of files %26amp; buffers. I usually use a 150 grit to take down acrylic, a 180 grit to refine it, and then move to a 100-180 grit buffer to remove deep scratches before finishing the nail with a UV gel topcoat - or sealer. If I was going to hand file the shine on, I would use the 220-280 grit buffer after the 100-180 Perfecter as the final step prior to using the shiner. Buffers from this company, and many others have two sides - and two diffferent grits. It's important to perform the filing and buffing in a 'progressive' manner. In other words, use a lower grit file first, then a higher grit file, then move up to a low grit buffer, turn it over and use the higher grit side on it, and so on.

For gel nails, buffers are not really necesary, but one can be used. Usually, I just use a 100/180 file for gel filing since the UV gel topcoat, sealer, or finishing gloss will fill in any scratches anyway. Plus, a UV topcoat, etc will not go on as smoothly when the nail has been buffed out too much. This creates a finish on the nail which is too smooth for the finish gel to adhere well to, and apply easily without imperfections.

Anyway, here are the links. Just click on the item you are interested in, and a page will come up with detailed information about the particular file or buffer. The Tropical Shine files are not bad at all and I know quite a few techs who use them. Its really a personal preference type of thing, and it comes down to using whatever ones work best for YOU.

    http://www.entitybeauty.com/c-6-files-im鈥?/a>

    http://www.tropicalshine.com/file.html

    I hope this helps!

PS: Entity Beauty has excellent acrylic products, and their Studio brush is the absolute best brush I have ever used. It's quite pricey, but it lasts forever (well, almost forever, LOL). You must be a student, or a licensed beauty professional to buy from Entity. Tropical shine is available in Sally Beauty, and anyone can buy from there. I think Entity is a far higher quality product though. But then, that's only MY opinion, and nothing more.

Also, the rectangular zinc files/buffers at Entity last longer than the other ones shown. I bought some of them and yes, they were great files. But they wore down very fast. The absolute longest lasting file I ever used are Tammy Taylor's Purple Terminator files. My gosh, those things just do not wear down! They really last a long time. But, I don't think her other files are really anything special. And her acrylic products? Well, I won't go there...

If you have gotten your nails done Professional how can you get them off at home?

i got my nails done and they are sculptured onto my real nailsIf you have gotten your nails done Professional how can you get them off at home?
I wouldn't doubt that the answers already given work.. Personally, I just peel them off at the cuticle, slowly and without trying to hurt myself lol. It does take a few layers off your nails however, but they will eventually grow out. And if you get the gel kind then you can probably file them off, but it would take forever..

If all else fails and you don't want to use any of these methods I would suggest going back to the salon and having them take them off, although the prices are ridiculous. It's your choice though :).If you have gotten your nails done Professional how can you get them off at home?
I'm assuming Acrylic nails...Soak them in pure acetone. Take something like a orangewood stick and push the melted stuff off.
Soak your nails in nail polish remover for like an hour... It'll probably hurt when you take them off by the way.

  • How can you make home-applied acrylic nails look professional?

I'm afraid everyone will be critical. How can you make home-applied acrylic nails look professional?
i think you just really have to have a good eye for making your nails look natural. take your time, read the instructions. i think filing the nails properly are key and eliminating the appearance of ridges after applying the nail. i used to apply fake nails myself and i spent a long time making sure each nail looked perfect. actually, i preferred just using the tips rather than applying the full nail because the full nail makes your entire nailbed look unnaturally thick. then it just looks too obvious.

you also have to be careful about painting your nails and hat color you choose. make sure to put vaseline around the outside of your nailbed at the bottom so that when you paint them, if nail polish runs beyond your nail, you can easily wipe it up. the vaseline allows the polish that hits it to not dry, so clean up with a q-tip is easy.

good luckHow can you make home-applied acrylic nails look professional?
I agree that you could just go and have them done. Where i live a full set costs like $15-$20 and they come out looking really nice too. and the fills are very cheap like $12.
they tend to look really fake, and fall off

getting it done is a lot better, can be 20-40 dollars at salons

gel nails are better, gel overlays are really nice
then just get them done proffesionally...it's only $20

No, don't go to the ones in the mall. A good manicure can be expensive, but you will be less likely to get an infection. I am in college studying to be a dermatologist which takes care of hair, skin, and nails. I have spent some time in offices and a lot of the emergencies that come in are nail emergencies and the cuticles are infected because they have been cut, or have used unclean instruments.

its tuff when they require you use there product and I'm sorry although you have to bear with it you will be done soon and then you can use what you want and yes i love Tammy ~~~~~good luck and GOD SPEED i remember the feeling!!!!!!!1

  • My nail polish (professional manicure) is peeling after less than 24 hours. Poor manicurist or bad polish?

8 of 10 fingernails started peeling, but toes look fine. This is OPI polish, I brought in my own bottle. I haven't done anything out of the ordinary. Showered, a couple of dishes, and washing my hands a couple of times. My nail polish (professional manicure) is peeling after less than 24 hours. Poor manicurist or bad polish?
i have brought in my own polish before and this was from wal-mart. my nail color lasted about two weeks...they should redo it for free

the reason i say this is because OPI is a really good brand so your nails should last longer then a dayMy nail polish (professional manicure) is peeling after less than 24 hours. Poor manicurist or bad polish?
I would say go back to the manicurist and ask them to re-do it at no charge. For it to start peeling that quickly is just a really poor job and you paid for it, I would hope they would fix it free of charge otherwise I wouldn't go back there again.

If they used the same polish for your toes as they did for your fingernails, I would say possibly the toes stayed better because you use your toes a lot less for things such as the washing dishes and washing hands, etc. It does sound like bad nail polish but also just a bad job done, let them know about it ASAP and tell them you are unsatisfied with the job they did and you want it fixed free of charge or want your money back. They should be willing to comply.
Only a poor manicurist would have bad polish.

Definitely go back and get your money back or get them redone.
Go back. OPI is good stuff. They need to fix it.
If your not constantly washing dishes I think you should go back and have them do it again. Sounds like they either layered it on too thick or they didn't wait for each application of polish to dry b4 applying the next. And OPI polish is good polish.
Well I use OPI nail products and they are the best I have ever used! x x x
You should at least let the polish set for about an hour and a half.....so that it has time to complety dry. The more you wash your hands the sooner the polish will come off.
    probably both

    Professional looking nail polish?

I am leaving for a scientific conference this weekend and I was thinking of painting my nails. (Normally I can't do this because I'm a chemist and the chemicals I work with remove nail polish). What color would you recommend to look professional (I'm giving two talks)? What brands of polish do you find to be the most chip resistant?

    Thanks!Professional looking nail polish?
Neutral colors are professional. OPI is good quality, and I'd recommend getting some chip skip or any clear topcoat to protect your nails from chips.Professional looking nail polish?
OPI would be the best brand to buy. Now as far as the professional look I would suggest something Nude, Taupe, or a really light light shade of powder pink.
i don't use nail polish but i think that if i was a scientist that clear with the white thingy on top would look professional
    OPI is a great brand.

Its about $7 a bottle and comes in many shades
if i where you i would just paint them clear. but umm all solid colors are fine just no neon colors

When you get your eyebrows done (waxed/threaded), do you go to a professional or just a regular nail salon?

Like do you go to a regular nail salon or somewhere not professional but cheap, or do you go to a pro. and do you like the way your eyebrow is done. and also, how much do you get your eye brows done? When you get your eyebrows done (waxed/threaded), do you go to a professional or just a regular nail salon?
I go to a high end spa and let the pros do it for me. Its $20 which includes the tip, and that's a good price. I do not trust the nails/tanning/waxing places at all. When you get your eyebrows done (waxed/threaded), do you go to a professional or just a regular nail salon?
I only go to the pros. Sure, you have to pay a little extra, but it's worth it. I usually go about once a month to get my eyebrows waxed. It costs me $18 for a clean-up and $26 to get them shaped. Plus, the wax they use at a professional salon is so mush better for your skin and the environment versus the yellow wax at a nail place.
I have my eyebrows waxed every 6 weeks at an upscale salon (they offer hair, nails, makeup, waxing, and massage services). It costs $20 + tip and I LOVE the way they look. I would never trust a nail salon for a wax. You need someone who specializes in waxing to shape them right and not burn you.
It's part esthetics, part hair salon.

So I guess that does count as professional.

    I love the way it's done when it's threaded, it's 100% worth

    the pain.

I do my eyebrows every 3-6 weeks.
